ABOUT

Humble Beginnings

The early pioneers started bible study and prayer meeting in the home of Sister Aleen Jones in March, 1982. Among them were Joseph Germain, Collins Boston along with the Singletons.

In December of that year the church was established with Jonathan Singleton as Pastor, the pioneering members along with new members Hescar Bardouille and Nora Hogan.

The church grew rapidly which necessitated the move to a building in Lower Belfast pictured here.

On his return from his studies at the Barbados Baptist College, Brother David Serrant accepted the pastoral call and was unanimously voted in as Pastor.

The new location would soon become too small and the church knew it needed a larger location.

EARLY GROWTH & CHALLENGES

In 1983 the church held a grand crusade at the Emporium Hall in Mahaut. The following year after much prayer and negotiation the church was able to move from the small building in Lower Belfast into the more spacious and centrally located Emporium Hall.

The church continued its rapid growth growing its membership more than 500% from 1983 to 1992 but soon there would be challenges on the horizon.

There was no bigger challenge to church growth than migration. However evangelism, outreach and fostering closer bonds with the community of Mahaut and environs helped mitigate the negative effects.

Crusades, dental clinics, home visits, prison ministry, medical outreach, vacation bible school, soup kitchen and breakfast at the market allowed the church to grow its presence and influence. The fruits of which would soon come.

A NEW HOPE

On December 5th, 1997 the church began construction of a new church building. Pastor Dave travelled to the United States to seek assistance from friendly churches towards the construction.

Missionaries Fred and Betty Waker contributed towards the purchase of the building plot through the Winward Island Baptist Mission.

The Carmel Baptist Church of North Carolina and the Alachua Baptist Church of Florida not only contributed financially but also in manpower and materials.

Pictured here is the church at its peak membership of 161.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

The church continues to do the Lord's work more than 40 years later. While it faces increasing and more diverse challenges than before, our motto of earnestly contending for the faith holds true.

Looking towards the future means looking back towards where it all started, Mahaut. The fields are ripe and in these increasingly uncertain times the church's direction and leadership is needed now more than ever.

The members of revival will continue doing God's will with a renewed sense of purpose and zeal. Reaching out to our global family, relying on our knowledge, experience and guidance of the church founders through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
